of the week, that is. I scored an incredible deal on a Macbook Pro, and it arrives Friday. Not only that it is fun and exciting to get new stuff, but I am gaining some inspiration to start pumping out the stuff that I have been holding back for so long. I plan to record another Forever New track this weekend. Maybe this is all I needed for “a kick in the ass” if your will. I am finally going to record an acoustic version of a track “Falling Faster”. Maybe another video, too. Who knows? I might be appalled of the huge 17″ laptop that is coming my way…
As the words dance upon my tongue
i bite my lip to save the taste
i paint you red as your absence instills
my fever, the shaking, your innocent face
your hands are attached to strings
your mouth is controlled by words we speak
allow me to be your pilot
allow me to act in your masterpiece
and as i suffer, i dare not breathe
i dare not fall from bliss
and loose my sanity
we play these games and marvel
over our empty lines
filled with charms and poison
a built-to-break design
you hover flirtatious smiles
and challenge the bond bestowed
i never believed in serpents
until this tempting secret showed
and as i suffer, i dare not breathe
i dare not fall from bliss
and loose my sanity
and as you find yourself caught
between this and misery
you loose your patient footsteps
and loose who you used to be
5-2 is not as good as 6-1, but I’ll take it. Redskins barely pulled through and won Sunday’s game over the Rams. (Somthing that the 6-1 team, returning Super Bowl Champions the Giants, could not accomplish the week before… Ohhhh, that feels good. Oh, yeah. Dallas lost, too.
Well, I’m going for some new equipment for my music projekts. I’m trading in most of my big dog stuff for some more side project oriented stuff. eg:
- ProjectMix/MacBook = MacBook Pro (Processing Power)
- Drum Mics = Melodyne (VOX)
- External HD = Condensor Mic
- Roland Drum Kit = ???
Maybe this will all turn into some sort of inspiration. Who knows. At least I am still doing somthing related to my dream. I have been speaking to Garrett this week on topics of adopting a familiar sound for some recording….TV, anyone?
Houston Calls‘ sophomore release was honestly something I was worried about at first. Their first album, “A Collection of Short Stories” kidnapped me and easily took me back to my high school years when Pop-Punk meant so much to me. Back when blasting Blink 182, MXPX, Spring Heeled Jack, or Fenix TX in my car was hands down the best part of any day. I used to miss the feeling that these bands and their style of music would put into me. The adrenaline of these emotions mixed with the desire to fall in love was the best high I have found to date. A click of Houston Calls’ first album on the iPod sets me right back into the feeling I like best. The feeling of being myself.
Soooooo, comes forth my initial reaction to their new release, “The End of an Error”. After reading an interview with the guys last week I was worried. The Guitarist/Singer’s thoughts on it were in this Absolutepunk.net interview:“The old record was like a flat lining patient. The new CD has dynamics, and doesn’t leave you thinking “wasn’t that the same song over and over again?”"
But after getting my digital hands on their new album, I was blown away. WOW. They did it. They took their style a step further. I am thoroughly impressed with this album. I am also once again mad excited to see these guys when they come back around my way to a small venue…(BackBooth or The Social)???
Not that my “Influence” list really means anything to anyone else but me, but I am officially adding these guys as of today. Thank you Houston Calls. Thank you for not falling under the Sophomore album bus. Now come see me, so I can give you money for merch…
So seriously. I used to pump out a song a day just a few years ago. Now I can’t seem to finish anything I start. I have way too many songs half written. Maybe I need a vacation away to write. Maybe I need a band so I can make videos. Maybe I need a new Macbook Pro
…Yeah I’ll settle for all of the above.
So I am shifting gears once again and I am editing some acoustic stuff. zzzzzz zzzzzzzz zzzzzzz
I think that it is completely freaking retarded how much control the NFL season has over my everyday functions. Thanks Washington. Now I can go have a really crappy week. FUMBLES HURT.
Well, either way…I have more music to halfway write. I guess I better get to it.
I love you, Kim.
So I started reading Chris Cooley’s blog recently and came to discover that this guy is like a rock star to me now. His blogs are not only written well, but I can relate to this guy’s personality. He seems like a guy that I would want to hang out with. Oh, yeah. He also listens to really good music. I am sooooooo buying his jersey now…LOL
I read aboutTravis Barker’s recovery process today and was happy to hear/read words from his mouth since the crash, but still ended up feeling on the down side after reading it. He claims that they are grafting skin from his back for his feet. This is probably wrong, but I immediately concern myself with his tattoos. Either way, I have the utmost respect for this dude. +44 is incredible.
Speaking of tattoos, my homeboy, Jason, called me today to let me know that he is going to work on my new piece. YESSSSS. I can’t wait.
I plan to go hang out with the other guys in “the band” tonight and see what we can accomplish. Maybe some technical aspects of our first song? Maybe a Bassist? Potential band name? How about all of the above.
[insert rant warning here] I am ready for some sort of change to happen in my musical life. It has been at least 3 years next month that i have not been playing shows or even playing with a full dedicated band. Hell, I’ve almost considered giving up and trying out for a cover band… Ok not really.
UPDATE: Spellchecker is your friend.
There was another victory in the NFC East… Washington stole the Eagles’ glory with a comeback from 14-0. …in Philadelphia , by the way. Man am I happy about that.
Friday I met up with a few guys to try starting a new band, and come to find out these dudes were really cool. I look forward to writing music with these guys. It’s a little early to talk about much more, but we have a lot of diverse influences and ideas. I’ll know more in a few weeks. Until then, I’ll just watch my video one post down a few more times… Man I look hot…. It must be the hair.
